The South Korean under-17 men’s national soccer team has been drawn in the same group as France and the United States at the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) U-17 World Cup in November.
The draw was made on Friday and South Korea will play in Group E alongside France, Burkina Faso, and the United States.
This year’s U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from Nov. 10 to Dec. 2.
Established in 1985, the U-17 World Cup is a biennial tournament that is now in its 19th edition.
The last edition was originally scheduled to take place in 2021, but was canceled due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, making this the first time the tournament has been held in four years since 2019.
The 2019 edition was won by host Brazil, followed by Mexico in second place and France in third.
South Korea was also drawn in a group with France at the 2019 tournament and finished second in the group (2 wins, 1 loss) behind France (3 wins), advancing to the round of 16, where they beat Angola 1-0 in the round of 16 but lost to Mexico 0-1 in the quarterfinals. 소닉카지노
South Korea’s best result in the tournament is a quarterfinal appearance on three occasions, in 1987, 2009 and 2019.
South Korea’s U-17 team, led by Byun Sung-hwan, finished runner-up at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-17 Asian Cup in Thailand in July and qualified for the World Cup.
The top two teams in each group and the four best-placed nations in the group will advance to the knockout stages, starting with the round of 16.
