‘The legend is over’ Lyon, bottom of league, sack Laurent Blanc after four games without a win

After falling to the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, Olympique Lyonnais has parted ways with coach Laurent Blanc.

“We have mutually terminated the contract with Coach Blanc, effective immediately,” the club announced on its official website. We would like to thank him and his staff for their professionalism over the past 11 months.”

It was effectively a dismissal. Blanc’s team lost all four of their games in the preseason, with the exception of a 2-1 win over semi-professional Trappers. Things didn’t get any better after the start of the French Ligue 1, with one draw and three losses in four games, dropping them to the bottom of the league.

It’s been a consistent poor run of results since last season. Blanc took over from Peter Bosz in October last year, and has since won 14 games, drawn six and lost eight in the league, which is exactly a 50% win rate. It wasn’t his worst performance as a firebrand, but it wasn’t enough to keep him in charge.

There was also a rumored feud with the owner. Since owner John Texter took over the club late last year, there have been numerous local reports that Blanc was not liked by the club. Texter denied this in May of this year, but Blanc was eventually sacked.

Blanc’s coaching career is coming to an end. As a player, Blanc was a legend in France, where he formed the so-called “Iron Four” with Vicente Lissarasu, Marcel Desai, and Liliane Touraine to win back-to-back World Cups in 1998 and Euro 2000.

His early results as a coach were also strong, as he led Girondins de Bordeaux to the top of the Ligue 1 in the 2008-2009 season. After failing with the French national team, he returned to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and won the Ligue 1 title for three consecutive seasons, starting in 2013-2014. 바카라

However, his return to coaching will not be easy, as he had a four-year hiatus after PSG and failed miserably at Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Lyon.
