AFC announces best 11 Asian Cup squad ‘including Hong Myung-Bo, Park Ji-Sung and Son Heung-Min’

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the 11 best players of the Asian Cup, as voted on by Asian soccer fans.

A total of 48 players were selected and voted on for each position. The players with the highest voter turnout were used to compile the list of the 11 best Asian Cup players of all time.

Korea was represented by seven players on the list, including Lee Un-jae, Hong Myung-bo, Kim Joo-sung, Koo Ja-cheol, Park Ji-sung, Lee Dong-guk and Son Heung-min.

Hong Myung-bo, “Asia’s Libero,” Park Ji-sung, “Two Hearts,” and Son Heung-min, the best active Asian player, were named to the Asia Cup’s all-time Best 11.
Other nominees include goalkeeper Mohammed Al Deayea, who helped lead Saudi Arabia to its soccer heyday in the 1990s, 꽁머니지급 as well as Mehdi Madavikia, Ali Daei (Iran), Yuji Nakazawa, Yuto Nagatomo, Shunsuke Nakamura, Daisuke Honda (Japan), and Tim Cahill (Australia).

There are a few athletes who didn’t make the Best 11, but were nominated. They are Australia’s Matthew Ryan, Saudi Arabia’s Saleh Al-Nuaima and Majed Abdullah, and Iraq’s Nashat Akram.
